Ceramic, found wooden tables
The knitted garments come from secondhand shops that sell clothing by the kilo. Sold by weight, not by name, each garment was once worn close to a body I will never know. I dipped them in ceramic slip and fired them in the kiln. The fabric burns away, leaving a hollow ceramic shell. In the mourning practices I grew up with, garments or paper representations of them may be burnt as offerings for the dead.
