Sleeping Baby, 2024
Bisque-fired ceramic, each approx. 8 × 3 × 2 cm, installation dimensions ca. 200 × 200 × 2 cm
Dozens of candy-sized ceramic babies lie sleeping on the floor, each one unique and hand-formed. They are bisque-fired and unglazed. This keeps the ceramic porous. It absorbs moisture from the air and releases it again, reacting to the room in which it lies like a gentle breath.
Sleep is an intermediate state. Those who sleep are neither awake nor absent, neither fully present nor fully gone.
