Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba) is often labelled as “Chinese date” or Chinesische Dattel, although it is botanically unrelated to the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera). It has been cultivated in China for over 4,000 years. A daily food. A symbol of fertility, birth, and fortune.
I 3D-scanned a jujube and 3D-printed it in multiples. Translucent. Hollow. Identical. Red-and-white parcel cord (Packschnur), commonly used in Swiss households, is threaded through the PETG jujubes. They hang across a passage to form a curtain that visitors walk through.
